Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has launched a sharp verbal attack on former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi, predicting that Amaechi will ask his supporters to boycott the 2027 presidential election before it concludes.

Wike made these declarations on Saturday during a reception held in his honor in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State. He asserted that Amaechi would realize early on election day that victory was unattainable against the coalition supporting Wike in Rivers State. "On election day, before 11am, Amaechi will tell his people to boycott the election because he knows there's no way he'll defeat us," Wike stated.

The FCT Minister further ridiculed Amaechi's electoral prospects, humorously suggesting that Amaechi's success would hinge on his ability to win his own village. "If he wins his village, Ubima, then he has won the election. That's if he will win his own polling unit," Wike quipped.

Wike also targeted Amaechi's past security arrangements, accusing him of using soldiers and police to intimidate citizens during political events in Rivers State. "No more battalions of soldiers to be with him, no more battalions of police to be with him, it's now that we the battalion of people will come out," Wike declared, contrasting it with Amaechi's previous alleged show of force.

This political sparring comes as Wike has repeatedly dismissed Amaechi's presidential ambitions as "dead on arrival," questioning his political structure and national influence for the 2027 elections.
Wike also criticized Amaechi's past performance as Minister of Transport, citing instances where he claimed Amaechi failed to deliver benefits to Rivers State, such as securing a vice-chancellor position for the University of Port Harcourt.

Wike has also publicly declared his support for President Bola Tinubu in the upcoming 2027 elections.
