Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has strongly refuted claims by some governors that his 'Rainbow Coalition' will negatively impact President Bola Tinubu's vote count in the upcoming 2027 elections. Wike asserted that these governors lack the capacity to deliver votes in their respective domains and suggested they should seek to learn political strategy from him.

Speaking at a reception hosted by the Rainbow Coalition in Rivers State on Saturday, Wike emphasized that the coalition is designed to increase, not decrease, Tinubu's votes. He questioned the effectiveness of these governors in the 2023 elections, pointing out that President Tinubu received less than 5% of the votes in some of their states even before the Rainbow Coalition existed. Wike cautioned against what he termed 'cheap propaganda' and reiterated his commitment to supporting President Tinubu's re-election bid.

Reports indicate that some All Progressives Congress (APC) governors had previously expressed concerns to President Tinubu about the activities of the National Rainbow Coalition, fearing it might split votes and undermine APC candidates.

The Rainbow Coalition, described as a socio-political movement rather than a political party, aims to mobilize voters for the 2027 general elections with a focus on ensuring continuity for President Tinubu's administration. It evolved from the G5 (Integrity Group) and has been characterized as a grassroots movement that contributed to Tinubu's emergence in 2023.

Meanwhile, the Arewa Youth for Peaceful Coexistence has dismissed allegations that the Rainbow Coalition is working against President Tinubu. The group's National Chairman, Haruna Bature, stated that the coalition's objective is to promote national unity and peaceful coexistence, and that Wike has consistently supported Tinubu.

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has publicly declared his support for the Rainbow Coalition and endorsed President Tinubu for a second term.

In a separate context, the APC in Kano State has been described as a 'rainbow coalition' of politicians united for President Tinubu, though observers note a lack of seamless integration among them.

President Tinubu's 2023 electoral performance across various geopolitical zones is also being analyzed in the context of the upcoming elections, with his strongest performance in the South-West.
