Nollywood actress and African Action Congress (AAC) governorship candidate for Abia State in the 2027 elections, Doris Ogala, was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Umuahia, on Friday, June 5, 2026, after reportedly losing consciousness during a consultation. Videos circulating on social media showed Ogala collapsing earlier in the day before being quickly taken to the hospital. She later shared an update on her Instagram page, stating, "I was rushed to FMC Umuahia. I lost consciousness. Glory to God I am stabilised now." While at the hospital, Ogala was seen in a wheelchair interacting with patients and staff. Footage showed her praying with patients and reportedly paying medical bills for some, stating it was an instruction from God. Ogala recently emerged as the AAC's candidate for the Abia governorship, aiming to unseat incumbent Governor Alex Otti. Her campaign has focused on people-centred policies, economic growth, and job creation. She also pledged to prioritize the health sector, stating her administration would focus on it from day one if elected. The incident has drawn mixed reactions online, with some suggesting it might be a publicity stunt due to her acting background, while others commended her apparent generosity at the hospital.
